Bali makes a lovely honeymoon destination because it offers two very different experiences within the same trip. You can spend a few days surrounded by green rice terraces, tropical gardens and quiet villas in Ubud, then move towards the coast for beaches, sunsets and long evenings together.
The key is to divide your stay between the two rather than trying to cover the entire island from one location.
Begin with Ubud
Ubud is a good place to start a honeymoon. Surrounded by rice terraces, forests and small art villages, it has a slower pace than the coastal areas.

A private pool villa makes the experience even more special. Two or three nights in Ubud should give you enough time to enjoy the surroundings without rushing through the activities.
Move Towards the Coast
After a few days in Ubud, head towards the coast. Bali has several areas to choose from, and each offers a different experience.
- Seminyak and Canggu: Good for cafes, restaurants, shopping and lively evenings.
- Nusa Dua: Better suited to couples looking for resort stays, quieter beaches and a relaxed atmosphere.
- Uluwatu: Known for its coastal cliffs, beautiful sunset views and beachfront resorts.
You can also set aside a day for Nusa Penida, an island known for its dramatic coastline and beaches. Keep in mind that the boat journey and island transfers can take up much of the day.
A Five to Seven Night Honeymoon Plan
A comfortable way to plan the trip is to split your stay between Ubud and the coast.
- Days 1 to 3: Stay in Ubud. Explore the rice terraces, visit temples, enjoy a spa experience and spend time at your villa.
- Days 3 to 6: Move to your chosen coastal destination. Enjoy the beaches, cafes, sunset spots and local experiences.
- One extra day: Keep this flexible for a Nusa Penida excursion or simply a day without an itinerary.
If you have seven nights, you can add another day to either location without making the trip feel rushed.
A Few Things to Decide Before Booking
Some small choices can make a difference to the overall experience.
- Would you prefer breakfast included at your villa or resort?
- Would a private airport pickup and transfer between Ubud and the coast make the journey easier?
- Would you like to arrange something special for your first evening, such as a candlelit dinner or a flower bath?
- Do you want to include a day trip to Nusa Penida or spend more time exploring Bali itself?
